Agbonlahor loses ‘expensive bet’ to Terry after Chelsea’s Champions League joy

Gabby Agbonlahor has revealed he had to fork over £100 on a bottle of wine after Chelsea beat Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening.

Agbonlahor had waged a bet with Blues legend John Terry, with the former Aston Villa believing Chelsea would be knocked out. However, Graham Potter's side outplayed the Germans at Stamford Bridge, turning around the first leg.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said: "I thought from the first whistle Chelsea were outstanding, pressing, aggressive. [Marc] Cucurella had his best game, [Ben] Chilwell going forward, Sterling making runs in behind.

"I want to see them next game, they’ve got Leicester away, let’s see if they can do it against a Premier League side because Dortmund weren’t great.

“I was expecting more, they cost me a bottle of Tignanello, I had a bet with JT. Have you got a bottle at home you can loan me Ally [McCoist]? I had Dortmund to go through!"

Terry also joked about the bet, when the former Blues captain posted a stock image of the bottle on his Instagram story. He said: "Thank you @ga11official, messaging me before the game wanting a bet. Thank you, Chelsea!"

Agbonlahor added: "Potter made the right changes as well, [Joao] Felix looked a bit tired, he bought [Conor] Gallagher on.

“Those are the kind of changes you want to see from a manager, not just sitting there and saying ‘we’re winning 2-0’ he slowed the game down.”
