Former champ dethrones Supercars star
Scott McLaughlin had been the man to catch all weekend long at Bathurst, but he was knocked off his perch in the final practice session.
The final session for the teams ahead of the Top Ten shootout takes place saw Chaz Mostert claim the quickest time with a 2:03.508 ahead of McLaughlin’s 2:03.696 in second.

Mostert finished second behind McLaughlin during Friday’s qualifying, but reversed the roles as he crossed the line in the dying seconds of the session.

The weather was clear for the session as the drivers dived back into the quicker times, but rain is expected to fall on Saturday afternoon ahead of the enthralling Top Ten shootout.
“For me the car kept getting better I think just learning how to drive it and get the most out of it was the biggest thing,” Mostert said.
“We have been working hard on the car in practice, it feels a bit better on fuller tanks than it does on light tanks.
“It’s just awesome to do a three (2min.03sec time).
“I don’t want to jinx it, but we are going pretty good at the moment and if we can qualify on the front couple of rows, we’ll try.
“But the guy next door (McLaughlin), he has been the qualifying king this year and to knock him off will be hard. If we can just qualify at the front, it will be a long race.”
Here’s how the top ten looked following the seventh practice session of the meet.
1. Chaz Mostert, 2. Scott McLaughlin, 3. Cameron Waters, 4. Shane van Gisbergen, 5. Anton de Pasquale, 6. Jamie Whincup, 7. Will Davison, 8. Mark Winterbottom, 9. Thomas Randle, 10. Nick Percat.
That practice was pretty cool, it’s the fastest I’ve been in a Supercar around here! See how we go in the next session, I’m excited about the way the car feels ?#Mozzie55 #VASC #Bathurst1000 pic.twitter.com/RLjqQqYgNp
