Michael Schumacher ‘conscious’ after F1 star undergoes latest treatment in Paris
Seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher is reportedly “conscious” after receiving a stem-cell transfusion.
French newspaper Le Parisien revealed earlier this week the 50-year-old had travelled to Paris for the secret treatment.
And the outlet have now provided a latest update after apparently being fed information from a nurse working at the Georges Pompidou Hospital.
Security is extra tight at the state-of-the-art facility but a member of staff working with Schumacher has provided some positive news.
“Yes he is in my service,” the nurse revealed. “And I can assure you that he is conscious.”
Schumacher has not been seen in public since 2013 when his health deteriorated following a skiing accident.
Information regarding the ex-Ferrari and Mercedes driver has been kept out of the public eye by his family and lawyers.
And they have yet to make a comment since Schumacher was admitted to the Paris facility.
FIA president Jean Todt visited Schumacher for 45 minutes yesterday.
Earlier this year Todt confirmed that he had travelled to Schumacher’s house in Lake Geneva to visit him.
“I’m always careful with such statements, but it’s true,” he told Radio Monte-Carlo.
“I saw the race together with Michael Schumacher at his home in Switzerland.
“Michael is in the best hands and is well looked after in his house.
“He does not give up and keeps fighting.”
Schumacher is F1’s greatest ever driver with 91 Grand Prix wins and seven world titles.
