Yahoo Fantasy Football Week 8: NFL DFS picks, lineup advice for cash games
Week 8 is now here and so is our Yahoo cash game lineup. NFL DFS is starting to become a bit harder, as more players are dealing with their bye weeks — which thins the player pool — but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t enough guys to choose from. There are always strategies and stacks to exploit and sleepers to grab as well. But in cash game formats, it’s always important to grab safe players that should see a high volume of passes, catches, or carries. So, that was part of our plan while crafting this lineup.
This week, we went with a normal stack and a contrarian stack in our lineup. Our normal stack was an obvious QB-WR stack that is targeting a couple of Minnesota players in a favorable matchup. And our contra-stack targets one of the worst overall defenses in the league. Our strategy here is simple — exploit the weaknesses on this slate of games and find some solid values in the process. And that should definitely pay off.
Week 8 Rankings:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker
Here’s a look at our Week 8 Yahoo lineup for cash game formats.
Week 8 Yahoo Fantasy Football: NFL DFS picks for cash games
QB Kirk Cousins, Vikings vs. Saints ($33). Cousins is merely the eighth-highest price QB on this slate of games, but he has one of the best matchups against the Saints. The Saints have allowed an average of 29.46 fantasy points per game (FPPG) to QBs this year, and Cousins should be poised to take advantage of that. Cousins has posted three-plus TDs in four games this season and in a game that could be a shootout, Cousins could have another good outing.
RB Phillip Lindsay, Broncos @ Chiefs ($26). The Chiefs just did a good job of shutting down Joe Mixon last week, but they still have one of the weaker run defenses in the league (28.98 fantasy points allowed per game — second-worst in the league). Lindsay is trending towards the lead role in the Broncos backfield and with Royce Freeman dealing with an ankle sprain, the Broncos may lean more heavily on Lindsay in this contest.

RB Doug Martin, Raiders vs. Colts ($12). Normally, I wouldn’t recommend starting Doug Martin in any fantasy lineup. But with Marshawn Lynch now on Injured Reserve, Martin is the next man up in the Raiders backfield. He will see a mostly full workload — provided that the Raiders don’t fall far behind early — and he could be a goal-line threat in this contest. At just $12, we had to spend down here so we could afford some other high-priced options at other positions.
WR Adam Thielen, Vikings vs. Saints ($39). For yet another week, Thielen is in our Yahoo lineup. He’s simply too consistent to leave out. He has at least 100 yards in every game this season, and he has caught a TD pass in four-straight games. Stacking him with Cousins is an excellent move and considering that the Saints have allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing receivers, this could be a boom play for our lineup.
WR Emmanuel Sanders, Broncos @ Chiefs ($25). I have one normal stack and one contrarian stack in this lineup. This is the back-end of the contra-stack. Sanders has been racking up a lot of catches, and he has 100 yards and a score in each of the past two games. The Chiefs limited Sanders last time out but at this price-tag and with him on a hot streak, we like his chances of outperforming his 63 total yards from last time. And if the Broncos are playing from behind, Sanders may be a prime candidate to get some late-game garbage time points.

WR John Brown, Ravens @ Panthers ($20). Brown had his second 100-plus yard, one TD game on Sunday against the Saints. The Panthers have allowed some big games to other top receivers like Odell Beckham Jr., Alshon Jeffery, and Tyler Boyd, so Brown may be the latest to take advantage of their semi-porous coverage. Either way, $20 is a solid value for the speed threat, and he should continue to see a lot of targets (7.7 per game so far this year).
TE David Njoku, Browns @ Steelers ($16). Njoku is really starting to step into a bigger role with the Browns. In back to back weeks, he has notched 50 yards and a TD. The Steelers are allowing the second-most FPPG to the position. Njoku is a high-floor, high-upside guy who should see plenty of targets and opportunities throughout a game that could be a shootout.

FLEX Chris Godwin, Buccaneers @ Bengals ($15). Godwin has averaged 11.0 Yahoo points per game this season, and he has at least 41 yards in all but one game this season to go along with four scores. The Bengals were just shredded by the Chiefs, and they have allowed the 13th-most FPPG to WRs this year. This low price-point feels like a pricing inefficiency, so we’ll take advantage of it here.
DEF Washington Redskins @ Giants ($14). The Redskins shut down the ground-based offense of the Cowboys last week. If they can bottle up Saquon Barkley in a similar vein, they should have a great chance to get some sacks on Eli Manning and force some turnovers.
