Lions coach Matt Patricia scolded a reporter for slouching during a press conference

Matt Patricia went full seventh-grade teacher during a press conference Wednesday. A Detroit reporter was in the middle of asking the Lions coach about the Golden Tate trade when Patricia interrupted and asked him to stop slouching…

The Detroit Free Press has the transcript:

Reporter: “Why do you think this move makes your franchise better?”

Patricia: “Ah, well, you know. Do me a favor just kinda sit up, just like, have a little respect for the process. Every day you come and ask me questions and you’re just kinda like you know, ‘gimme this.’ “

Reporter: “I’m sitting …”

Patricia: “I’m asking just to be a little respectful in this whole process.”

Reporter: “Okay, that’s fine.”

Patricia: “So ask me a question professionally and I’ll answer it for you.”

It’s odd that a request for “professionalism” is coming from a man who isn’t known for dressing all that professionally. He wears his hat backward and makes Bill Belichick look like Tom Landry at times. That’s not really a big deal. Dress however you want. But if you are going to dress down, maybe don’t lash out others for not professional.

Somewhere Bill Belichick is wearing the smile of a proud father.
