Former Broncos CB Aqib Talib announces retirement – The Denver Post

After 12 seasons in the NFL, Aqib Talib is hanging up his cleats.

The former Broncos cornerback on Wednesday announced his retirement on his podcast, “Call to the Booth.” Talib, 33, was a five-time Pro Bowler, All-Pro, crucial member of the Denver’s “No-Fly Zone” and part of the Broncos’ Super Bowl 50-winning team.

“I’m bringing my talents to the booth,” Talib said.

Talib said he had an offer to rejoin the Patriots, where he played from 2012-13. But after looking at the schedule and debating if he could still keep up with the league’s elite tight ends, he decided it was over.

“Once that negative thought crossed my mind, my heart, my competition edge — I ain’t really in it like that no more,” he said on the podcast.

Talib finishes his career with 35 interceptions — 10 returned for touchdowns — in 148 games. In addition to Denver and New England, he also had stops with the Buccaneers and the Rams.
