DK Metcalf injury update: Seahawks haven’t ruled out rookie (knee) playing in Week 1, Pete Carroll says

There’s a chance DK Metcalf could be on the field for the Seahawks’ regular-season opener.

The rookie wide receiver underwent surgery Wednesday on his injured knee which found “minimal” damage and Seattle hasn’t ruled him out for its Week 1 matchup against the Bengals at CenturyLink Field on Sept. 8, coach Pete Carroll told reporters.

“Excited that we got it done,” Carroll said, via the Seattle Times. “It was the kind of thing we could have put off but we wanted to use the time frame that we had available and hopefully it will work out just right for us.”

The Seahawks selected Metcalf out of Ole Miss in the second round of the 2019 draft. He won’t play in the team’s final two preseason games, Carroll said.
