‘Unbelievable’ star melts the NBA
DERRICK Rose, take a bow.
The Timberwolves star stole completely the thunder on Thursday (AEST) against the Jazz, racking up a career high 50 points in a spectacular showing in Minneapolis.
The NBA veteran, slotting shots in everywhere between the rim and the line, squeezed his way to the half-century with seconds to go on the clock as Minnesota edged out the visitors 128-125.
The 2010/11 MVP made a mess of the Utah defence late in the game and blocked a last-ditch effort from the Jazz to tie the match. He was immediately swamped by his ecstatic team and broke down into tears at the bell.
“I worked my ass off, bro. I went and did this for the franchise, the organisation, the fans, everybody man,” Rose said after the game, revealing the performance meant “everything” to him.
Rose’s incredible feat came on the night Wolves star Jimmy Butler took a match off.
Nope, it isn’t zombies resurrecting.

The Timberwolves ruled out the All-Star Butler in advance of their game Wednesdayagainst Utah for “precautionary rest.” Coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters at the morning shootaround that Butler’s absencewas not related to his trade request .
“He missed all of training camp, basically, so he has just general soreness,” Thibodeau said.
Butler told ESPN he planned to attend the game against the Jazz at the Target Center and travel with the team on its five-gameroad trip that begins Friday at Golden State. Butler told the network he would play against the Warriors and disputed speculation that he was sitting out Wednesday in protest of the lack of action by the Wolves on his desire to be dealt elsewhere.
Adding to the drama, a woman who accused Rose of sexual assault is reportedly set to have her appeal heard in two weeks’ time.
