NBA trade rumors: Pelicans unlikely to deal forward Julius Randle

It looks like Julius Randle will be remaining in New Orleans.

The Pelicans aren’t expected to move the 24-year-old forward despite exploring potential deals for him before the Feb. 7 trade deadline, according to a report from The Athletic, which cites unidentified league sources.

Sources: While the Pelicans have explored potential deals involving Julius Randle, it’s unlikely he’ll be moved before tomorrow’s trade deadline. He’s developed a strong bond with the team’s coaching/training staff and there’s a good chance New Orleans could keep him long-term.

Randle, who is in his first season with the Pelicans, holds a $9 million player option for 2019-20.

Randle is averaging 19.9 points and 9.3 rebounds in 29.6 minutes per game for the Pelicans this season. He’s shooting 54.4 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from 3-point range.
