Kamaru Usman dominates Rafael dos Anjos in ‘TUF’ 28 Finale main event

Rafael dos Anjos tried to unload his bag of savvy veteran tricks in the cage Friday night. Kamaru Usman smashed straight through them.

Usman scored a unanimous decision (50-43, 49-45, 48-47) over dos Anjos in the main event of the UFC’s “The Ultimate Fighter” 28 Finale at the Pearl Concert Theater in Las Vegas. He extended his winning streak to 14 fights, with nine of those recorded in the UFC.

Usman thoroughly dominated dos Anjos, punishing the Brazilian in response to whatever was thrown his way over the course of 25 minutes. By the end of the bout, the damage Usman left was staggering.

190 strikes landed. 11 takedowns.

Usman had answers for everything and increasingly had his way as the bout went on. When dos Anjos went for a kimura in the second round, Usman rolled right out of it and then landed a barrage of punches to let his opponent know that he was in full control and that his winning streak wasn’t by chance.

By the fifth round, the “Nigerian Nightmare” was essentially striking and landing pulverizing shots at will. Dos Anjos was forced to absorb the blows until the decision was officially declared.

Usman’s latest offering puts him even more in line for a shot at Tyron Woodley’s welterweight crown.

Here are the rest of the results from the “TUF” 28 Finale.

Co-main event

Juan Espino def. Justin Frazier by first-round submission (armlock)

Impressive, to say the least. Espino took Frazier’s back, trapped him in a straight armbar and cinched it in enough to get the submission victory 3:36 into the first round. Espino made the win look easy as he put the UFC’s heavyweight division on full notice.
