Jake Paul labelled a ‘snake’ and ‘a nobody’ by UFC star Colby Covington with controversial YouTuber-turned-boxer accused of taking on ‘washed-up’ opponents as war of words with professional fighters continues

  • Colby Covington has lashed out at Jake Paul and described him as an ‘amateur’
  • YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul has quickly wound up a number of veteran fighters
  • Covington accused 24-year-old Paul of only taking on ‘washed-up’ opponents
  • Despite Paul’s bullish nature, Covington is adamant he will not want to fight him

Jake Paul has been subjected to a withering verbal attack from UFC welterweight Colby Covington – who accused the YouTuber of being a ‘snake’ and ‘a nobody’.

The controversial online personality Paul, 24, boasts an unbeaten record in professional boxing but his bullish nature has already seen a host of other fighters savage him on social media.

Covington is now the latest to have taken aim at him by playing down his credentials and insisting he would beat Paul if the two ever faced off.

‘Everything that’s going on with him is hilarious,’ Covington said on the latest episode of What the Heck.

‘This guy’s an amateur. “Snake Paul” is literally a bum. He’s a Disney, YouTube star.

‘He’s not a real fighter, he’s an amateur, he’s a nobody. I’d literally smack the pubes off his face.

Paul has engaged in a war of words with several seasoned fighters after beating Ben Askren

‘What I make of him is he’s just looking to get hype and build himself up as a real fighter.

‘He’s not a real fighter, this guy’s a nobody from the streets.’

Paul explosively saw off retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren last month to make it three straight wins in the ring and has since been engaged in a war of words with the likes of Kamaru Usman and Daniel Cormier.

However, despite the opponent for Paul’s next money-spinning fight being unknown, Covington is adamant the younger brother of another YouTuber, Logan, will continue to take on fighters past their prime.

YouTube personality Paul is a divisive figure but also holds an unblemished record in the ring

When questioned whether he could see Paul demanding a showdown with him, Covington said: ‘He wouldn’t do that. He’s not that stupid.

‘He’s only looking for old, retired, washed-up fighters.

‘He’s not looking for a guy in his prime who’s the top of the weight class who can actually throw hands.

‘He’s looking for wrestlers, jiu-jitsu fighters, guys that supposedly did MMA, but they’re literally 40- or 50-year-old virgins.

‘He’s not gonna call out someone that actually knows how to fight.’

Despite this, Paul has turned his attentions to Nate Diaz and said that he would ‘obliterate’ him if the duo were ever to meet in a cross-fight.

Canelo Alvarez, meanwhile, issued a stark warning to the two Paul brothers by claiming that they could be killed if they continue their combat careers.

‘They could get them killed. This is not a soccer game, they could get them killed,’ Alvarez said in an interview with Graham Bensinger.
