Raceday focus: Benalla

ULTRA consistent three-year-old filly Our Sunny Girl virtually just needs to turn up to get the job, according to leading Herald Sun form analyst Michael Manley for Monday’s Benalla meeting.

With five placings from five starts, Manley believes Our Sunny Girl should be able to settle off nicely form barrier six before unwinding with her customary strong finish.

Manley has her on top as his best bet with Quora his next best for the program.

OUR SUNNY GIRL (R3, No. 11)

She’s had five starts for two seconds and three thirds. Ran home well last start for close second to Limeshow at Pakenham. This looks her race. She’s still in the VRC Oaks.

NEXT BEST

QUORA (R1, No. 8)

Superbly bred filly being by Written Tycoon who has shown nice ability in her two starts for two thirds. Last time was at Mornington behind Rapidora where she settled off the speed and made nice ground on the fence.

MAHEERA (R5, No. 4)

Amazingly she’s only won one race but she’s a stakes placegetter who looks well placed in a Benchmark 58. She races well fresh with a second and a third from two starts back from a spell. Looks suited in this grade.

PLUTOCRACY (R8, No. 1)

City class sprinter who looks well placed in a Benchmark 64. Put together two third placings in strong Benchmark 70 races at Geelong behind smart horses on each occasion, the last time behind Superhard and Sirius Suspect.

VALUE RUNNER

FULLY MAXED (R7, No. 1)

Backmarker who has lost form. At his best he’d have little trouble winning this but that’s the query. He drops back to a Benchmark 58 for the first time and should be able to handle this level.
