Oleksandr Usyk paid tribute to ‘real man’ Tony Bellew with a great show of sportsmanship on his Instagram page. 

The undefeated Ukrainian kept his cruiserweight titles and remained unbeaten on Saturday night, landing the killer blow in the eighth round of the fight. 

The ‘Bomber’ lauded his final opponent as ‘exceptional’ and was full of praise for Usyk after suffering defeat and the champion replied in kind.

He posted a video on Instagram from the Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel speaking in his mother tongue and the caption outlined his sentiments.

Usyk wrote: ‘Thank you all for your support!!! Thank God for everything!!! Tony is a real man!!! Thanks for the battle!!!’

Clearly the 31-year-old southpaw was still pumped full of adrenaline and his spirits were soaring hours after the contest at Manchester Arena.

With his shirt off in the video, he concluded his message with a quick shadow box to camera. 

There was a great deal of mutual respect between both men in the lead up and aftermath of their sensational fight. 

Bellew threw everything he had at Usyk but began to tire before a beautifully placed left hand sent him off to retirement following his wonderful career.

Addressing the crowd after his loss, he told Sky Sports: ‘Make sure you clap him because he’s an exceptional fighter and he deserves all the awards in the world. 

‘Oleksandr Usyk is a great, great champion and I lost to one of the pound-for-pound bests that’s every done it. He’s fantastic.

‘He beat me fair and square. I have no excuses. He’s an amazing fighter.’
