Mike Tyson has revealed that he bit Evander Holyfield’s ear in their 1997 fight because he ‘wanted to kill him’ after being headbutted.

After Holyfield dominated the early rounds he was then heard screaming in pain after Tyson had bitten off a chunk of his ear.

Tyson was given a two-point penalty deduction and was eventually disqualified after biting Holyfield on the other ear.

The fight was stopped in the third round after Tyson had bitten Holyfield on both ears

It was the first heavyweight fight in over 50 years to end in a disqualification.

Commenting on the incident, Tyson revealed that he was livid with Holyfield, saying that he had been headbutting him during the fight.

Tyson told Fox News last Sunday: ‘I bit him because I wanted to kill him. I was really mad about my head being bumped and everything. I really lost consciousness of the whole fight. It took me out of my fight plan and everything.’

Asked if he would do it again, Tyson said: ‘I say, “No, never ever again”. But I might do it again. Well if he does what he was doing to get bitten, I would bite him again. Yeah.’

Tyson showed off his physique ahead of his return to the ring in an exhibition on November 28

Tyson’s last fight was in 2005 but he is set to return to the ring on November 28 when he will take on Roy Jones Jr in an eight-round exhibition clash in Los Angeles.

Ahead of the fight, Tyson showed off his incredible body transformation as he looks to get into shape.

The 54-year-old shared a series of photos on Instagram that revealed the results of his training regime.

There is a possibility that Tyson could come up against Holyfield as part of his League of Legends promotional tour for charity. Last month Iron Mike teased the possibility of coming up against his old rival gain in the future.

‘That’s always something that we can do if the people want it, if it’s pragmatic enough, I’d love to do it,’ he said earlier this month.
