Joe Ingles named in NBA’s top 100 players
Joe Ingles' great week just got better, with the Australian named one of the NBA's top 100 players.
Ingles and the Boomers continued their undefeated march through the World Cup in China on Monday with a 100-98 thriller victory against a talented French squad to book a quarter-final clash with the Czech Republic.

Sports Illustrated has compiled its annual list of the NBA's top 100 players and the Utah Jazz wing received plenty of praise along with the 65th ranking, placing him ahead of the likes of JJ Redick (67), Jaylen Brown (68), Harrison Barnes (72), Serge Ibaka (80) and Andre Iguodala (86).
"One of the best things about Ingles is that he knows exactly who he is as a player," Sports Illustrated, in explaining Ingles' ranking, wrote.
"There is no delusion to his game.
"If there's no opening, he won't shoot."
Ingles did slip a bit this year.
Last year Sports Illustrated had him as the 56th best in the NBA.
The publication has only released the top 51 to 100 players on its 2020 list, with the top 50 yet to be revealed.
Australian All-Star Ben Simmons was 26th last year so is almost certain to make the top 50 and possibly break into the top 20.
Australia's other World Cup heroes with NBA contracts – Patty Mills, Aron Baynes and Matthew Dellavedova – appear likely to be left out of the top 100.
They did not make the list of 51 to 100 players and also were not named among the Sports Illustrated's "25 biggest snubs".
LeBron James was last year's top player, followed by Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, James Harden and Anthony Davis.
