ROUND 6 TRADE GUIDE: BEST OPTIONS FOR GADES, SIXERS DOUBLE

Who were your best and worst starting picks?

@honeyballbbl — expert fantasy website: James Faulkner was, at least until he got injured. So it’s got to be Daniel Worrall who has been a major surprise. I picked him initially simply as a cheap Striker to carry on the bench in Round 1, in order to get four Strikers for their double game in Round 2. But it paid off handsomely with his runs and now economical bowling and wickets.

@azzajewell — Jock Reynolds KFC SuperCoach BBL expert: My best starting pick was Nathan Coulter-Nile, which probably highlights exactly how my side has been doing. Starting at $138,600 and pushing past the $200,000 mark, he has allowed me to capitalise on his rapid growth and select a couple of badly-needed premiums in other roles. Worst pick? Sorry Peter Handscomb, but that honour goes to you. I blame myself because I brought him in at the last second in a panicked frenzy at the expense of Dan Christian.

@hunterpunter_1 — KFC SuperCoach guru, top BBL rank #23: Ben McDermott and Jack Wildermuth would have been my best starting picks after spending the majority of pre-season in my team until they were last-minute additions to the Australia A team. What might have been! Nathan Coulter-Nile has delivered when he has played and has made some nice cash. Ashton Turner has also done reasonably well from a low starting price. My worst starting pick has been Peter Handscomb.

@Brooma_23 — KFC SuperCoach BBL runner-up, BBL09: Best starting pick I’ll give to Hilton Cartwright. He has a nice round 1 score of 137 and was a great POD to help get me off to a good start. Worst pick has to be Dan Lawrence. He came in as a back-up option after a couple of my starting picks were unavailable. Certainly didn’t live up to the hype of his batting talent and didn’t bowl as much as I thought he might. I’ve learnt my lesson now about picking international batsman straight away, especially in their first BBL. A lot of them can struggle in their first few games here.

@SC__Bandit — top-300 finisher in KFC SuperCoach BBL: Will Jacks came over from the UK with pretty big wraps, but unfortunately didn’t really get going in his short stint with the Hurricanes. Peter Handscomb has also been disappointing and now looks like he’ll be batting in the middle order of a strong batting line-up. In terms of a best selection, starting with the evergreen Dan Christian has turned out very well, hopefully he can hold his form for the remainder of the tournament.

Which player (in your team or not) has surprised you the most?

@honeyballbbl: Worrall for the reasons above. Outside of my team it has to be Tim David. A player who bats six and seldom bowls doesn’t fit my normal criteria for a SuperCoach pick but he’s been a revelation.

@azzajewell: Will Jacks, for all the wrong reasons. Enough said.

@hunterpunter_1: Tim David. Hobart in the past have been a team that don’t lose many wickets early in an innings and for this to change this year and him to get a look in batting at No. 6 has been very surprising.

Tanveer Sangha has been one of the best cash cows of BBL10.Source:Getty Images

@Brooma_23: Tanveer Sangha. I wasn’t expecting him to play let alone be as good as he has been. He’s basically the Thunder’s front line spinner now. He looks far more experienced than a 19-year-old. Taking wickets at a good economy, he’ll end up being one of the better cheapies this season I’m sure.

@SC__Bandit: Ollie Davies and Tim David have been breakout players. We heard promising things about Davies on his journey through the junior pathway system and it’s great to see him taking his opportunity with the Thunder. David was one who I thought might just be a reserve player for the Hurricanes, but he’s ended up playing some crucial knocks for them thus far and adds even more firepower to the Canes’ batting line-up.

How many DGW players do you plan to have in Round 6?

@honeyballbbl: I always like to have five players minimum on a double otherwise you’re missing out on points. But as there’s two clubs on the Round 6 double, I’ll likely have six or seven, as they’ll share points around more and be easier to drip-feed out. There’s not many Renegades who I like or trust, beyond Kane Richardson, so I’ll likely land on having six players on the double in my team, with Sixers such as Dan Christian, Josh Philippe, Ben Dwarshuis and Carlos Brathwaite.

@azzajewell: Looking at scores from the first three rounds, it’s clear you need to load up on double game week players in order to score big. In Round 1, the top-four scores for the round were from the Stars and six of the top-10 scores were Stars players. In Round 2, Strikers and Hurricanes players occupied seven out of the top-10 scores, with the top-three coming from the DGW (double game week) teams. Round 3 wasn’t as kind, but we still saw four Strikers in the top-10. I’ll be looking to target at least six DGW players for Round 6, with the likes of Josh Philippe, Dan Christian and Carlos Brathwaite from the Sixers and Kane Richardson from the Renegades as a minimum.

@hunterpunter_1: I currently have three Sixers (Christian, Braithwaite, Phillippe) and one Renegade (Richardson). The plan will be to pick up three more leading into Round 6.

@Brooma_23: I already have three Renegades (Richardson, Marsh, Sutherland) and two sixers (Christian, Philippe) in my team. Not many other Sixers excite me and with the chance of some rain around for at least one of their games, I might not get anymore of them. Brathwaite is one I’ll consider. I might look to pick up one or two more renegades. I’ll definitely have at least six DGW players, most likely seven. Not planning on going super heavy on DGW players this time.

@SC__Bandit: I’ve already got four in my side (Philippe, Finch, Vince and Christian), so I’ll be looking to have six at a minimum, but most likely seven. Kane Richardson looks like a must-have and I’ll be eyeing off the likes of Shaun Marsh and Mohammad Nabi. Generally if there’s two teams playing a DGW I like to have an even split of players from both sides.

Who’s the player you want but haven’t been able to get?

@honeyballbbl: Daniel Sams. His starting price seemed too high but his exceptional early form with the bat meant he’s actually gone up in price. The fact he’s added batting points to his bowling points this season means you almost need to bite the bullet at any price.

@azzajewell: There are a number of players, but at the top of the list would definitely be Daniel Sams. I can’t get him yet, but I’m hopeful I can find a way to get him into my side for the Thunder’s DGW in Round 8.

@hunterpunter_1: Daniel Sams. He will be in my team by the time the Thunder’s DGW comes around for sure.

Last year’s runner-up Brooma is keen to get Jhye Richardson into his team.Source:Getty Images

@Brooma_23: Besides Daniel Sams who most will want by Thunder’s DGW, Jhye Richardson is a bowler I rate highly. I’ve prioritised trading in others ahead of him especially with no early DGW for the Scorchers, but I will be getting him at some point, it’s just a matter of when. I feel Richardson goes overlooked a lot as well.

@SC__Bandit: Dan Worrall is probably one who I would have liked to get at some point. He was in my side prior to Round 1, but I just wasn’t sure whether he’d see regular game time so I took him out which has cost me big time. Aside from that I’ve missed a few big scores from various players like Short, Maxwell and Wildermuth which has also hurt my ranking a bit.
