BCCI president Ganguly in hospital after suspected heart attack

The president of the Indian cricket board Sourav Ganguly has been taken to hospital in Kolkata after a mild heart attack.

Indian media is reporting Ganguly, who led India from 2000-05, was admitted to hospital after complaining of chest pain while working out on Saturday morning. He is reportedly in a stable condition.

Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings said: "Our thoughts and best wishes are with Dada."

India captain Virat Kohli and former batting great Virender Sehwag are among those to have sent their well wishes to Ganguly on social media.

One of India's finest modern-day batsmen, Ganguly sits third on the country's one-day internationals runs chart, behind Sachin Tendulkar and Kohli. Only seven batsmen have scored more Test runs for the nation.

Since retiring, Ganguly became a media commentator and cricket administrator, taking over as the president of the powerful BCCI in 2019.
