Victorian Travis Dean has been left in severe pain after copping a blow to the nether regions on Friday morning.
In the first Sheffield Shield round since BBL|09, Dean left the ground immediately after the knock from the bowling of NSW seam bowler Trent Copeland, retiring hurt on 11 off 28 balls.

The opener was forced to the floor after copping the blow to the box, with Victorian medical staff attending to Dean after a lengthy delay.
The 28-year-old has made 33 runs in four Sheffield Shield innings this season.
Earlier, Victoria handed teenager Wil Parker a debut at the SCG. The 17-year-old is considered a top-50 AFL draft prospect and could find himself at an AFL club by November.
Marcus Harris was trapped LBW by Harry Conway for seven, with the left hander attempting to push his case to partner David Warner at the top of the Australian batting order.
