Khabib Nurmagomedov fires shot at Conor McGregor after beating Dustin Poirier at UFC 242

Khabib Nurmagomedov fired shots at Conor McGregor after beating Dustin Poirier at UFC 242.

The undefeated Russian defended his Lightweight Championship via third-round submission.

He then went straight over the Poirier to lift his opponents arm in the air as a mark of respect as the crowd cheered.

Nurmagomedov then explained how he values his latest victim way more than McGregor, who he beat last year.

“I don’t understand why I have so much in my life,” he said.

“I want to forget the b******t with the last guy (McGregor).

“Me and Dustin Poirier have showed MMA is about respect not trash-talking.

“This fight had so much respect unlike my last fight with that b******t guy.

“When you go to a gym you respect the trainer, the coaches, your team-mates and you opponents. You keep the gym clean and tidy it.”

Khabib also thanked his family who were in attendance in Abu Dhabi.

He added: “My father is here, I want to thank God and I want to thank my father.

“My brothers are here too, we do everything together, have everything I have because of all of them, my uncles too.”

Meanwhile, Poirier felt he could have given more in the Octagon.

He said: “I’m sorry for anyone I let down with this performance.

“I feel I let myself down, I thought my whole career was destined for this moment.

“Adversity has always taught me in the past to be grateful and graceful and that is what I will.”
