Man Utd chiefs think one star could help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sign three transfer targets

Manchester United manager Solskjaer is keen to strengthen his squad this summer after a nightmare Premier League season last time out.

The Red Devils have already snapped up Daniel James from Swansea, with the Wales international moving in a £17million transfer.

Manchester United are also on the cusp of sealing a deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the right-back set to complete a £50million move imminently.

Solskjaer knows more is required, though, if his side are to secure Champions League football next season.

And the Evening Standard have now delved into their expectations regarding Zaha.

United flatly refused to lower the Ivorian’s sell-on clause during negotiations with Palace over Wan-Bissaka.

And the expectation is that any big-money move will help Solskjaer’s transfer plans this summer.

It is claimed the 46-year-old is still keen to sign three players at the very least this transfer window.

And, should Zaha leave Palace, any payment United would receive would give their transfer kitty a healthy boost.

The Evening Standard say Solskjaer wants a centre-back and two central midfielders before the window slams to a close.

Express Sport understands Harry Maguire is among the players on their radar for the centre-back position.

The England international was being eyed by Jose Mourinho last summer.

But United refused to make a move for the Leicester star and, consequently, shipped a huge 54 Premier League goals.

Regarding midfield, and several players have been linked.

Bruno Fernandes is admired by Solskjaer after shining for both Portugal and Sporting Lisbon over the last 12 months.

Adrien Rabiot, who is out of contract at PSG, is another potential recruit.

And so too is Sean Longstaff, who has been drawn comparisons with Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes throughout his brief Newcastle career so far.

United want two midfielders to compensate for two recent departures.

Marouane Fellaini jumped ship back in January to Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng Taishan.

Under Herrera, meanwhile, is set to seal a move to PSG imminently.
