Marc Marquez gets surprise helping hand from rival

Marc Marquez was given a helping hand – quite literally – by a rival's employee on Saturday morning.

Footage showed the Repsol Honda rider was struggling to get his Japanese machine up and running and was in need of a push.

Fortunately for him it came, albeit from an unlikely source as a Pramac Ducati employee gave him the help he needed.

Marquez was able to complete Saturday's free practice session which took place before qualifying.

The World Championship leader could only manage to record the fifth quickest time.

His attempts at securing pole position were hindered when his final run in qualifying saw him come together with home hero Valentino Rossi.

They both cut short their laps after attempts at overtaking prevented them from registering a competitive time.

Maverick Vinales took pole position ahead of Pol Espargaro who put in an incredible performance on the KTM.

Fabio Quartararo lines up in third just ahead of his Petronas Yamaha team-mate Franco Morbidelli.

Last year's winner Andrea Dovizioso will start in sixth narrowly ahead of Rossi.
