Former Jets QB Christian Hackenberg struggles in AAF debut
Christian Hackenberg’s AAF debut did not go well.
The former Jets quarterback completed just 10 of his 23 passes for 87 yards with an interception for the Memphis Express in their first game in the new spring football league. The team ended up falling 26-0 to the Birmingham Iron.

Hackenberg finished 10 of 23 for 87 yards with an INT. Threw a gorgeous TD, but had it called back because of a formation penalty.
Hackenberg was picked off when he attempted to throw across the middle of the field with his team trailing by three late in the first quarter and the ball near midfield.

The 23-year-old finished the first half with just 20 passing yards and the interception.

Hackenberg was replaced by backup Brandon Silvers with a little more than four minutes to play. Silvers threw an interception on his first drive.

AAF reportedly posts better ratings than top NBA matchup
The Jets selected Hackenberg out of Penn State in the second round of the 2016 draft. But, he never played a game for New York and bounced around the NFL before ending up in the AAF.
Former Alabama star Trent Richardson tallied a rushing touchdown for Birmingham in the victory.
