Charles Barkley’s message for LeBron James: Join TNT for playoff coverage
Charles Barkley has a message for LeBron James.
James, who missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-05 season thanks to a tumultuous inaugural season with the Los Angeles Lakers, has "nothing to do," according to Barkley, so he should join the Hall of Famer and the rest of TNT's NBA crew for some postseason coverage.
"I've said this before, America, and this is the last time," Barkley said with a smile during a segment Sunday night. "LeBron James, come into the studio. You ain't got nothing to do. The playoffs started yesterday. You've got free time. I know you've got to pick a coach and a general manager. Just put that on the back burner. I'm speaking on behalf — I'm begging you on behalf of (the rest of the crew) Ernie (Johnson), Kenny (Smith) and Shaq."
Within the past week, Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson abruptly stepped down and the team and head coach Luke Walton "mutually agreed" to part ways, continuing the franchise's state of disarray.
"LeBron, how about this," Barkley continued. "You don't even have to stay. You can leave at halftime of the second game. … We can help you pick out a coach. Listen, Shaq knows, because he would enjoy to coach. And Kenny's been interviewing for coaching jobs the last couple of years. So come on in, LeBron. Please."

In honor of Game of Thrones, which premiered the first episode of season eight on Sunday night, Johnson presented an ever better idea: Get a replica of the Iron Throne for James to sit on in the studio.
Sure, the odds of this actually happening are about as slim as the Lakers winning a championship next season, but credit to Barkley and the crew for trying. We'd love to see it.
