Josh Donaldson gets 1-game suspension for role in Braves-Pirates skirmish

Braves third baseman Josh Donaldson has been suspended one game for his role in the skirmish between the Braves and Pirates Monday night, MLB confirmed Tuesday.

Donaldson has appealed the suspension and will play Tuesday night against the Pirates.

Tempers flared in the first inning when Pirates right hander Joe Musgrove brushed Donaldson in the chest with a pitch. Donaldson started to walk to first, but stopped to exchange words with Musgrove.

When Pittsburgh catcher Elias Diaz tried to hold the Braves slugger back, Donaldson shoved him aside, and the benches cleared.
