Paul Gallen has outlined how he intends to inflict defeat on controversial former league star John Hopoate when the two trade blows at Hordern Pavilion on Friday night, which will also mark the debut of former league star Justin Hodges in the ring.

Gallen, the $1.20 favourite, has pledged to knock Hopoate out and has promised to give up the fight game if the result is anything other than a victory.

“Just being able to crack him, I want to hit him to the body and drop him, that will be embarrassing for him,” Gallen said at the weigh-in.

Despite being the $4.25 outsider, Hopoate, who stormed out of the weigh in without speaking to reporters, is confident and has vowed to knock the Cronulla forward out.

“I’m fighting against a big puncher, on the big stage, there’s a lot of pressure on me on this one, a lot of pressure,” Gallen said.

“I’m confident in the training I’ve done….The big punch doesn’t worry too much. But I do like the pressure.”
